Currently you can only do that by increasing the signal output of the Senseo/Stereo or by adding adding more sensing cells which also results in more signal substance being emitted.

Your deduction is very good! It's just one detail that's preventing you from solving this. Lightly shaded does not necessarily mean that this mode will be overwritten but that it's referenced to in the genome. If we now remember that Viruses only copy their genome 2 generations down we can logically...
