Cell lab arcade game (Substrate Invaders)

A recent floater design I made recently reminded me of the enemies in the old arcade game, space invaders. That got me thinking it would be fun to create a ecosystem with floater and turrets that shot them down. At first the turret were automated but then I wounder if I could actually make an arcade...

Re: Belles: Smart floaters

Nice design. Very elegant in the way they move and look. Can't say I care for the evolved version, the way they flip around the substrate. They can change elevation very quickly doing that but it still lacks a certain fineness.

Re: Density adapting, smart floater (UFOs and Landers)

I admit I don't understand the role of the velocity sensor here; does it help them stay vertically oriented? They stay nice and level as long as they aren't bumping into each other, and tend to stay where they are even if the substrate density changes around them. The velocity sensor is what adapts...

Density adapting, smart floater (UFOs and Landers)

Again, I feel a little silly posting this as I'm sure someone else has already covered this territory somewhere, but I like to show off my achievements, even if they are redundant. I've been playing around with smart floaters lately. One big frustration is fine tuning the buoyocyte of a floater so t...

Re: Single flagellocyte smart floater (aka Bellyflopers)

Nice and effective design! The angle of your buoyocytes gives them quite good steering, and the single flagellocyte is enough to push them up against gravity. Smart floaters have been a challenge for me; I haven't come up with any that work yet. I will have to incorporate some of your ideas on the ...

Single flagellocyte smart floater (aka Bellyflopers)

This design is probably not new to anyone, as it's rather simple, but I'm pretty proud that I worked out how to do it. The basic idea was to make a smart floater that moves to food using only one fixed flagellocyte. I came up with this organism that bellyflopps on to nutrient, swimming above the foo...

Re: 55: Digestion III

My God this challenge is evil. It took forever to figure out how to do it with Keratinocyte and then, because people said they did it without Keratinocyte it took even longer to figure out how to do it that way. The problem is that the way of thinking for this challenge is a little different from ot...
