Infection II

Post by AntiVirus108 » Fri Feb 05, 2016 5:59 pm

I made virus spitting swimmers almost identical to the default buggers but they don't seem to over take the population fast enough. Tips?

Are they infecting the present species correctly? Meaning, are you seeing the infected swimmers do what you expect them to do?

Ok, did you make sure that the infected cells can produce more Virocytes?

Yea, if I incubate it the Virocyte infection spreads but not fast enough. I've played with Split Mass, Split Ratio, ect. But it doesn't seem to work.

You want the other species to reproduce your virus instead of doing all the reproducing on your own. Set the split mass of the Virocyte to the lowest mass where it does not split in the animation preview. When your species is spitting out Virocytes, some will split and others will not. The ones that don't will sit there and infect the other species. You'll want fairly high split masses, which will help you generate Virocytes that sit there for a long time before they die.

Also it doesn't need to spread fast necessarily. It can take its time. (My solution takes quite a while of incubation before all swimmers are infected and my Virocytes don't split at all) It just needs to be sustainable in order to do its job.

Yes. The easiest solution is a Virocyte spitting swimmer. Use the same modes as the victim, copy From and To the same mode, and set the Virocytes not to split. Swimmer needs to be fairly efficient.
