42:Deception
42:Deception
I have been trying this challenge for a month and I can't beat it. I've seen bwisailo's video on it and still cant beat it. my current strategy is using an algea like organism.
M1 gluecocyte splits into modes two and three
M2 secrocyte. secretes food smell.
M3 gluecocyte splits into two mode one cells.
Can anyone help me?

trying to recreate my old genome is a @$!#?

Re: 42:Deception
You might want to give your genome more mobility to better spread across the substrate.
Perfection hasnt reached me yet, but its trying hard!

just finished, its a bit clumsy but it works but not as sustainable species but it hits the mark regardless.

Re: 42:Deception
Imagine a worm, that make it work for me.
What I did was a 4 celled lineal worm that is
keratinocyte-gleucocyte-secrocyte-flagellocyte
Probably not the most efficient organism, but I suggest this because is quite simple to replicate and it will help you get your own design.
Also, while mobility is good for this challenge, you will probably don't want more than 0.20 in your flagellocytes, as they will require more energy than they're getting.

Re: 42:Deception
Nope, I say it right. Consider this and you'll get why.
If the flagellocytes get stuck, they will just form clusters, and the gleucocytes will still be able to get food, which is more important.
However... Your design may work as well. This an evolution sandbox, and there's many ways to do things. That's why this is a pretty fun yet challenging game, there's no limits besides the physics of the game. No design is more powerful than other, they simply work differently.
We always encourage trying to find your own way to solve challenges, however, the reason we give some insight is because, we don't want people to get stuck and miss this awesome game.

Re: 42:Deception
I too need the genome to solve it
Re: 42:Deception
I guess I got lucky in finding quickly a combination for this one.
I sticked to the basic 2-cell gluocyte + secrocyte, and added a swimmer spore for spreading.
Basically the gluocyte absorbs nutrients, but it's the secrocyte that buds (splits) the spore of a swimmer; the swimmer moves a bit and then lets its flagellocyte die, and becomes another copy of the 2-cell gluocyte+secrocyte.
All I tweaked was split mass and nutrient priority, plus the split ratio of the spore for the swimmer.
I can provide more info but I would prefer not sharing the genome, I feel it's against the spirit of the game.
Edit: here's a video of the little critters:
