A Fractal in Time

Post your creations here. It can be either a cool genome or an interesting ecosystem. Indicate if you designed it yourself or if it was created through evolution, or both :). File, picture, or video is required.

A Fractal in Time

Post by Alast » Wed Feb 17, 2016 7:44 am

Yesterday I was wondering what it would look like if you had a cell spawning seed cells for a fractal. So I took a fractal that I already had saved and tried it out. See for yourself :)

Took me a second to figure out what you were saying. ;) That's awesome! Hadn't thought of that. That certainly makes for fun visuals ;)

Yeah, this should be especially cool for lattice genomes that change their shape with every iteration. That wqy you can capture all its shapes in one picture

The dragon curve is so awesome! :) This is the dragon curve in time. It shows 10 iterations of the dragon curve, and the pattern as a whole is itself an 11th iteration dragon curve.

Ok, THAT is awesome!!!

Took me a moment to reproduce until I understood that the seed cell also needed to have the same settings as the fractal cell :)

Yeah, these are all pretty cool -- dragon curve especially. :) For all of them, it's very interesting to see the series of iterations laid out all at once. Awesome idea! :)

Here is a lattice in time.

Here is Clubs and Koch snowflakes

And the tree in time is pretty awesome :)

PS - I originally developed it in the 2-mode discussion, but the tree is a 1 mode fractal. :)

Clubs and Koch snowflakes -- also 1 mode.

PPS - Actually, the lattice can be 1 mode as well, though the version above is 2 mode. Crazy ... :)

Wow!! It never occurred to me to try to tessellate triangles this way. But there it is! Triangle in time :) One mode once again.

Here's some more fun to be had with Triangles in Time ;) The red cell is the seeder:
