Battle Arena! (#1)

Post your creations here. It can be either a cool genome or an interesting ecosystem. Indicate if you designed it yourself or if it was created through evolution, or both :). File, picture, or video is required.

Battle Arena! (#1)

Post by Azedenkae » Fri Jun 19, 2015 3:29 am

Hey y'all,

Just thought it'd be fun to do an arena-style thing.

So not sure if it'd be a monthly thing or whatever, but let's start with one.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz6fXZ ... sp=sharing

The above is a link to a plate, with parameters randomly generated.

What I propose is a game. Yes, a game.

Let's see who can create the best organism/genome to survive in this environment!

I am not sure exactly how it'd work out over time, but for now let's do it in a 'challenger' fashion.

There is a top organism, and everyone has to submit organisms to challenge the champion.

It would be a best-out-of-five thing.

I will place five of the initial cells for each of the challenger and the champion on the plate in four corners and the middle, and then press observe.

Winner will be determined by either:
-The first organism to have less than 20 cells after one minute, or:
-After five minutes, whoever has more cells on the plate.
-If all cells of your organism die out, you lose the round.
-However, if both organisms have less than 20 cells after one minute, or die out within 10 seconds of each other, it is a tie.

Best out of five.

Each game will also have specific conditions.

For our first game, let's make it:
-No keratinocytes.
-No virocytes.

Everything else is fair game.

Sounds fun?

Submit your organism now!

You can submit multiple times (and fight your own, if yours was a champion).

Let's go!

P.S.

A few tips:
-I had a brief look at this plate. There is sunlight almost everywhere, but the intensity is low. Which means that really photocytes can't really do much. Light direction doesn't change, but not that it really matters.
-Nutrient concentration is low, but chunk size is higher. So think about phagocytes that must move around a lot.
-There is no gravity. No radiation either.

Sounds like a nice challange. Im exited for the creations people make.

Haha me too. I'm actually finding it a challenge to create something that can live on this plate.

Now one big challenge, is thinking not just in terms of survival of one species, but against another too. Just because one can quickly propagate in specific conditions doesn't mean it would still do well when another is present.

I'm about to finish my first organism I reckon. :P Can't wait for a challenger!

Is there sunlight? Just asking if my Striker would work there... :)
Wait. No Keratinocytes? I wanted to make a swimmer with Devorocyte... :(

This is an awesome idea! Though the substrate you gave us seems to have very little food available. I can't seem to even make a single species live on it :/. Also when uploading, make sure the file extension is there because it's hard to open the file with cell lab in android if it doesn't have the correct extension.

Cheers,

I tried your organism and it also doesn't seem to survive once it has eaten all the initial food pieces. Maybe you can post a slightly easier challenge? It could perhaps be a version mismatch if you're running version 36, the swimmers might consume slightly more energy in version 42.

Cheers,

Yeah, I'm able to download, but when I want to open it, my tablet opens it with Space Agency (a game, if you ask), then I uninstalled Space Agency, and it doesn't open it. How did you open that thing? I want to try it too. :x

I had to download some other file manager app to rename it to a .substrate file again

That means I can't try this challenge. :(
