@Alast -- Fishbug Vinculum I think this was what I had in mind -- basically, using the Flying Robot as a model for a swimmer.
The Myocytes keep the Flagellocytes pointing straight forward unless they are signaled by the Stereocyte to bend and contract, allowing the swimmer to move sideways or at a lesser angle. The Myocytes bend enough to allow the organism to move slightly backwards. It's efficient enough to max out Scarce III easily.
@Alast -- Unlike Musclebug Contractius, the Flagellocytes are programmed.
