Desert (or Friction) Parasite

Post your creations here. It can be either a cool genome or an interesting ecosystem. Indicate if you designed it yourself or if it was created through evolution, or both :). File, picture, or video is required.

Desert (or Friction) Parasite

Post by bwisialo » Sat Aug 13, 2016 5:46 pm

I don't have anything to show... yet. It's an idea I haven't gotten around to working on.

It would need to have some mobility, rather than just sit there. That would require a crawler with a Glueocyte head or that produces Glueocytes.

One thing that's really interesting is that, when a (victim) crawler hits a Glueocyte, it stops moving completely, as the Glueocyte sucks in signal substances.

So, here's your challenge to create one ;) I'll get around to it sometime.

Bumped. We lack some desert creature.

Haven't gotten to it yet. Friction creates such a difficult envirnoment to work with.

Yeah, just think how difficult it was making a smart crawler. A parasite for these conditions doesn't seem any simpler.
Perfection hasnt reached me yet, but its trying hard!

Can't it be stationary? With food secrocyte and lay babies that crawl far far away from them. Here's my previous desert droner. They should work the same way

That's interesting. Did you post a desert drone previously? Do you have it fully working with queens? That would be its own sort of achievement apart from a parasite. I can't quickly tell if a bunch of these will survive on their own.

For a parasite, stationary is fine. It should work with a separate host species. But it wouldn't be one part smart crawler with no Stereocytes. Dumb crawler would be okay I guess.

Man, there's a lot we could do with crawlers, but they can be frustrating to work with. Maybe I should just suck it up and dive in ;)

Your drone can also be desert smart prey. :D

Nope there is no post of it, just did it for fun. That's the final substrate before I stop. I just make them survive in the substrate.

Crawlers could make pretty cool queen and drone species. I don't think I'll be trying "egg on egg" with crawlers anytime soon. ;)

It search for food until the second stereocyte develop. Using it to go to the queen, if it can't find any, it itself will turn into queen that produce 2 babies. A grown up, when consumed by queen, can reproduce 2-3 new babies.
The hardest part is to adjust the nutrient priority so when the queen consume the drone, there will no cell left. Same with the grown up, before it turn into queen.
