Unnecessarily Convoluted Ecosystem

Post by JPrescott » Sat Oct 20, 2018 3:23 am

This is mainly to showcase Diflagella marcam which is a sort of keystone species. It produces a virocyte to infect the D. endotesta. D. marcam reproduces slowly because you really need just enough of them in an area.

D. endotesta's stemocyte turns into a keratinocyte in the presence of a predator. However, it turns into a lipocyte instead when infected- which lowers its chances of reproducing while providing the predator with more food.

The ecosystem itself is very fragile and is bound to change. It could last at least 1000h before the inevitable extinction of 2 species, either predator and endotesta, or predator and marcam.
