Is there a way to prevent it? I know we can't eradicate this bug.

I'm not sure what are your refering to but how big was the substrate you were working with?

I mean, a simple way to prevent it is to not go crazy with substrates, which I love doing, but it's annoying when it blacks out due to lack of memory.
