less lethal devorocytes

Post by Yohoki » Sat Jun 13, 2015 10:03 pm

I find it very hard to incorporate devorocytes into creations and tend to avoid them due to how lethal they are. Even trying to split a cell into another cell plus a devorocyte tends to kill off the other cell in more complex organisms. Any way to add a small timer before the devorocytes become lethal?

You need to have Keratinocytes touching cells, that will touch Devorocytes. ;)

Yes. I'm meaning for cells that won't be touching. What I mean is, say, splitting a devocyte into a devocyte and a photocyte but not having them stuck together. Sometimes the devocyte will gobble up the other cell during the split.

Yeah, that IS annoying. There should be like 3 seconds until they will "grow" their spikes.

You are right, The main cell its going to split shouldn't eat it self. I like the idea of that, it will mean that the cell can get realy complex. It cannot devour the cells that he is connected to or just the entire creature, although this would make some challanges way easier. Or even way harder.

I do support this :D

This could be a simple on/off option for devorocytes I reckon. :)

I'm not meaning to make it possible to connect devocytes to other cells without them cannibalizing the entire thing. That's what keratinocytes are for. I'm just meaning the initial split from one cell into two daughter cells. If daughter one isn't attached to daughter two, they shouldn't eat each other. But, this seems to happen with bigger/smaller cells.
