Background Music

Post by Massicyte » Wed Jan 11, 2017 3:48 am

Let's get straight to the point:
I don't find the background music really fitting. Personally, at least. I think that a more calm song would fit better, at least when in the plate screen. The current one sounds a bit "alered".

I don't want to offend anyone, I'm just presenting a sincere, honest and personal opinion regarding the soundtrack of the game. Or simulation, or cellular automaton, because I think it's pretty much a combination of these things, and I really like that concept, but that's kind of a side tangent, and I don't think that I need to make a whole post regarding that matter in the suggestions forum.

That's all I have to say. I will wait for any reply, and will try to respond to any question regarding the post.

Thank you for reading this whole -and possibly pointless- post.

I'm not saying that it should be scrapped completely, I like to hear some music when I'm studying or when I'm doing other tasks, or just doing things like drawing or writing, or when I'm in the bus, or when I'm conlanging, etc.
It's just that the music from Cell Lab isn't really calming, especially in the plate screen, a moment where the music should be especially calm.

I, instead, hear some songs by Yoko Kanno, like Moon or something like that.
Idk why, I just like them.

Music could be better but, in the end, seems fine to me. The have been virtually no comments on it either way.

Perhaps more importantly, it was a volunteer contribution: no fees or issues with rights. Might be difficult to find an alternative / substitute of that nature, and that might be the biggest obstacle to changing it.

98% ? That seems like a alot.

I can certainly recall some moments when I just wanted to get the volume down because I was fed up with the music. But I reckon that that'd happen with almost anything that you put on loop for like 4 straight hours.

I don't disagree with the point, though.
But, as bwisialo said, the Copyright and fees [/b]are an issue.
And if anyone suggests Royalty Free Stock Music, I'd say alot of that music would have the same effect, if not worse.

What alternatives are there?

Well, if lots of users commented "I turned it off because..." then I would consider that an issue, but that hasn't happened.
