Slime mold

Have you ever heard of slime mold? It's a very peculiar form of life and I think it's very interesting.

Now, I have no idea how this and amoeba in general could be replicated within the game, of if it can at all..

I've never heard of it, but it looks interesting. After wathing the video you posted, I think that best it would be with some sort of upgraded Neurocytes, that can change the split angle and other statistics of cells + some sort of Sensor, which would find out if there is food or no. By this, it might work. ;)
Genome would be like this:
0: Egg [1-2]
1: Phagocyte [1-1]
2: Neurocyte [not splitting, allowed to change all sorts of stats of cells (including what mode should it change into(changing some 1s to 3s), changing the split ange (to get bigger area), and nutrient priority (so cells that go nowhere will die out, not wasting energy))]
3: Sensocyte [finds out if there is food, then sends signal to neurocyte]

This lifeform moves and thinks by pulsating. When the amoeba encounters food for example, it pulsates faster around that spot and the rest moves over to the food source.
EDIT: wait I'm stupid she explains it in the video.

With this kinda thing, we could have a multiplayer game, in which we need to conquer slimes faster than the other, I don't know how, but it probably will be cool

territorial battles, there's not really a need of servers for that, since this game doesn't have too many players, one of us could got the genomes and make the battles, I really would like if there it was a kinda maze challenge
