Hi I have a chalange for all of you can you make a gene drive in cell lab

Can you recreat a working gene drive
Requirements-
*Sexuale reproduction
*Must elemanate the entire species of oragisms
* Must have a greater then 50% chance to be passed to the next generation

I look forward to hearing the results

Also it would be cool to see if we can start a discussion about the efices of the situation and if it should or should not be done in real life
My opinion is that it should be done asap but should be done right the first time.

Really interesting project, both biology-wise and the ethics questions it poses.

I was first thinking one could approximate this behaviour in cell lab by making an organism that reproduces sexually with gametes. Additionally the organisms with the drive would have two modes with virocytes, representing the two crispr-cas genes. These virocytes would then self-infect to make sure they are both present in the new organism even if only one was inherited over. It would only work 75% of the time but that should be enough. Though now without the "copy from" property self-infection isn't useful but I doubt it could be made to work in the previous version either.
