Fertile Ground

It is time to get creative. The idea of this challenge is not to cause head ache but to encourage interesting ways on solving this. Try new ideas. What's the least number of modes you can solve this with? How many cell types can you include in a meaningful way? Show off your coolest solutions :)

Description: We have here a very life friendly environment. There is plenty of light and food and the salinity allows for very little energy consumption. It's Cell Paradise. It's your job to create an organism that doesn't overstay its welcome and can instead control itself to not overpopulate the substrate.

Objective (medium): Stay within 600 and 900 cells for 500h

Max Cells inserted: 1

Cell Type allowed: all

I have a headache already ;)

I remember this, if it's the substrate I think it is. I'm not sure if I saved my solution. What sorts of solutions fo you have?

I was able to reconstruct a Photocyte, Neurocyte, Stemocyte solution. 4 modes, but after the initial splits the other 3 modes do the rest. Fixed population of 758-762.

Phagocyte and Devorocyte solution. 4 modes, population 700-800.

2 mode swimmer. This is actually much easier than I thought it would be. ;)

My coolest solution is the Nuerocyte-Stemocyte solution.

Yeah, it's similar to a challenge I had suggested once in the beta forum. I felt like coming back to the whole idea but now rather wanted something light and just fun to play around with :) And to increase the possibilities I added nutrients.

The simplest solution I have right now is a Photocyte-Devorocyte cycle with 4 modes. The most sophisticated one is a Photo-Senseo-Stemocyte genome probably pretty much the same as yours.

Will see what else I can come up with :)

Trying a 2 mode Secrocyte solution now :)

/edit: this is tough. The fluctuation is pretty high and hard to control. Am currently going below and above the band so I have to find a way to stabilize the cell count.

I was able to convert my Phagocyte Devorocyte solution into Phagocyte Secrocyte.

Cool :) Is it fairly straight forward or did you have to tweak it to some degree? I did start with straight forward but couldn't stay within the limits. And by now I might be thinking too complicated already ;)
