I just had the idea of a Secrocyte Challenge the other day, too. But it didn't work so I've parked it. It included an Omnivore you'd have to kill. Thinking about it again, maybe I can actually pull that one off :)

The omnivore would have a Keratinocyte. How many of its cells would be unprotected?

My model had 2 Devorocytes which were unprotected. It's based on my new Glowbug 2.0 which was also the base for the swimmer in the Obstacles challenges ;) The omnivore only actively seeked prey though, not food.

So the predator would only be able to eat up the Devorocytes. Does that provide enough food for a predator?

The equilibrium challenge I had in mind starts with smart prey on the plate and you'd have to get your predator to live for 2,000 hr. The cells in the genome editor would have to be locked in to the color detected by the smart prey.

No, my idea was a bit different with the Omnivore actually being the predator and you having nothing to defend but Secrocytes.

For Equilibrium there is another way than locking down colors: Set the Stereocyte to 0.5-0.5-0.5 for the colors and the Threshold to maximum. Your prey will flee from any cell of any color. I just did a test with that but so far it was too simple to clean the plate. Maybe just right to make an equilibrium a challenge ;)

It depends a little on the reaction of the Flagellocytes. I've come to the conclusion that 4x basic swim force is usualy a good values to provide good agility without overshooting and it works well here too:

I've tried to make a predator kill these, they didn't even survive ultimately. I got about 1k h so far.

With a low prey population of 600-700, that's going to be a very very difficult equilibrium challenge. I was thinking -- at least for a user created challenge -- a first challenge might have a prey population of 1200-1300 or even 1400-1500. A second, much more difficult challenge would be a prey population of 500-600.

I'll have to take a look at the behavior that results from avoiding all cells.

You can easily up the food concentration to get the cell count you desire ;) I've only sent you the substrate for demonstration on an all cell avoider though. With the organism being symmetric the cell avoiding Stereocyte doesn't send a signal based on the swimmer's own cells, because it couldn't say whether go left or right. The concentration is exactly the same on both sides. That's also due to max Adhesin connection strengths keeping the organism firm.

When it reproduces it wiggles a little bit though. I call that its reproduction dance, like it's happy about its offspring :) Well, it's rather subtle ;)
