Defy Gravity

Post by Alast » Sat Jun 25, 2016 10:19 pm

Description: In this challenge food is rare and gravity drags your cells to the bottom of the substrate. Can you create an organism that thrives here?

Substrate: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ep8ejf54jeg1j ... trate?dl=0

Objective (very difficult): Get 600 cells on this substrate

Max Cells inserted: 1

Cell Type allowed: all

With a minor modification, my solution to Balloons quite easily maxes out the substrate. ;)

Arghs, of course. I was too excited about my idea, I didn't think of testing it against that!

I'll have to come up with a new substrate ;)

If I remove the Neurocyte, my Swimmer-Floaters also max out with minor adjustments.

Yes, wait for the next substrate ;) It's almost ready, just needs some more testing :)

There, a new substrate version is in the initial post :) At least my Balloons genome couldn't survive here ;)

Nice work :) What worked on the first substrate doesn't work here. It will definitely require major changes or a different sort of species. :)

I think I can get a swimmer-floater with two Buoyocytes to work. It's a rather curious creation, with Buoyocytes cockeyed in way to give the swimmer an angle, rather than having to swim directly against gravity, and with the Buoyocytes responding to the Stereocyte. It's somewhat close to being sufficient, but it'll take some tweaks to cross the finish line.
