Smart Virus

Post by bwisialo » Fri Sep 09, 2016 7:48 am

Not having a new Infection challenge with the new smart cells just didn't seem right ;)

Objective (Very Difficult): Create a virus to Infect the Myocite swimmers and leave the plate clean at the end.

Cells types: All except Phagocytes, Devorocytes, Glueocytes, and Secrocytes. (I debated about Glueocytes, but you could try that).

Inserted cells: 8

Phew, not easy. So I can't say you're doing false advertisement ;)

Oh, it's difficult all right ;) I didn't mean to suggest otherwise. I meant that, for example, my solution copies from and to the same mode, and doesn't use any modes other than the ones used in the victim. Standard virus stuff, but with a more complex organism and very difficult cell restriction. So, I just meant that it doesn't involve the sort of insane techniques such as those used in the Red Death virus.

It's all good ;) I don't have much to say to your new challenge yet as I haven't gotten far but just wanted you to know that I'm looking into it. SO there wasn't much more that I could have said :)

Ohhh, I misread your first post. I thought you said it was false advertisement, i.e., that the Note made it sound easier than it is.

That's cool. Keep trying. :)

Hm, I realize you've built quite a few "traps" into your genome ;) Maybe I'll get somewhere if I follow them.

I had to build in things that were weaknesses for the swimmer but that a virus unable to get nutrients could take advantage of. Nice plump victims. :)

I got down to about 300 cells but couldn't quite kill yet. Working on it ;)

Solved :)

Not quite sure I'm doing the intended way. It is a basic virus infecting the Stereocyte but utilizes Liposeeds in order to prevent the infected swimmer to spawn new swimmers.

That little virus I have is quite potent :) With the Liposeed the Virocyte gets quite some energy to stay a while on the substrate giving it more time to infect swimmers. Even with just one cell inserted Virocytes are all over the substrate after a few hundred hours.

It does take quite a while though to clean the plate. Even when all swimmers are infected they still reproduce. Just not efficiently enough to survive ultimately. Last run was about 3.4k h.
