Virophage

Post by bwisialo » Thu Sep 29, 2016 9:56 am

There is a virus living in the petri dish and we need to get rid of it to do more research.

Objective (Very Difficult): Create a virus to infect the virus on the substrate, and leave the plate clean.

Cells allowed: 1 inserted; no Lipocytes, Devorocytes, or Stemocytes

Notes: A non-viral parasite does not count as a solution. Imagine there is a counter for "Infected cells" and it needs to reach a certain number to complete the challenge. ;)

This swimmer is very far from optimized. Two things create difficulties however. In one way or another, you will need to use or tap into modes 2, 3, and/or 4 in order to infect, and the substrate virus infects those modes -- it will infect your virus and put itself in modes 2-4. Second, your disadvantage is that your virus has to die off, and the other virus is trying to stay alive.

Tip: Doing fancy tricks by copying from one mode to a different mode isn't necessary. In fact, I couldn't get that strategy to work. ;)

Hint (in very tiny print): Keratinocytes are allowed.

Is keratin allowed?

Solve it. It does not need for me to use keratin. This solution is just like infection II but with small change.

And thankyou for taking my study time. JK.

Haha, thanks for the hint with Infection II. Solved it with a variation of my solution for that challenge, too ;-)

I was wondering about that. Thanks for the info.

I thought this swimmer was just efficient enough to escape being killed off by standard Infection II solution, and I was afraid that if I optimized this swimmer too much, then the challenge would just be too difficult. But that's we need each other as our beta testers. ;)

Keep your eyes out for an updated version with a more efficient virus. :) Coming soon...

I think it's fine the way it is. My Infection II solution stands no chance. I had to enhance it with a Keratinocyte to get it working, which is the mentioned variation. The Infection genome was just the base.

Oh, that's what was meant by "variation." Okay, that's perfect. :) I thought you were talking about tweaking the settings. ;)
