Queen needs Drones

Post by Alast » Tue Dec 27, 2016 3:57 am

I've decided to take the current threads about Queen and Drone designs and make a challenge with this premise :-)

Description: In our substrate we have a red Queen organism in the center and a ring of green Photocytes along the edge. The problem we're facing is that there are no Drones to feed the Queen. We need to create one!

Substrate: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jmraub51pjvev ... trate?dl=0

Objective (very difficult): Get the Queen to reproduce to 15 cells or more

Max Cells inserted: 1

Cell Type allowed: All but Photocyte and Virocyte

I'm reducing the goal from 30 cells to 15. Turns out my test results were rather exceptionary and the same genome doesn't hit the tarhgt all the time. 15 cells is the better goal I think.

Seriously :P

Wouldn't it be better if a minimal solution hit 15 and an optimal one cranked out 100+? Or maybe level I and level II are necessary here, or something. I mean, for someone whose never seen Queen and drone species, this would seem like being thrown into the difficult end of the difficult end of the spectrum. ;)

I don't even think 100 would be possible. At least I haven't even made it to 50 in my best run.

And I've just reduced the target ;-) So I'm not quite sure what you're trying to tell me. Of course, I can set 30 as second even harder goal if that's what you're after :P

Wow. I've been working on this one a lot today. When I started, I thought "OK, I'm ready for this". Yeah, not so much!

Best I can do so far is about 8, if one or two second-generation drones make it to the red cells. "Avoid green cells and seek red cells" behavior gets them there as long as they spawn near the open space in the middle. If not, they get stuck on the edge of the plate trying to escape green cells.

The "Easy" to "Very Difficult" scale in the game just doesn't have enough range, does it? This is Advanced / Master level stuff. I love it, but it's definitely not for the casual player. :geek:

Good, keep going :-)

My first approach had the same problem trying to avoid green and then getting stuck at the wall.

And yeah, we keep pushing the limit of very difficult challenging each other ;-)
