I am sure there are many ways to clean the plate without virocytes. But it's an infection challenge! Virocytes are mandatory. Well, unless you can figure out a way to change swimmer behavior without using virocytes, which I would love to see :D

I can imagine that if you attached them a gleucocyte with some brain, you could change its movement patterns (from my zombie experiment)
But it's quite hard to get it right on place, I guess it could work in something like the triple swimmers.

It looks definitely possible... In theory.

Yes, I did solve it with infection as well. Also without Stereocytes ;) I just found it interesting that infection actually wasn't necessary to clean.
Perfection hasnt reached me yet, but its trying hard!
