Has anyone tried to get the pivot mechanism to work with a Myocyte? I'm trying with a swimmer and fixed Lift value just to test and I'm not getting a pivot.

Edit: I got a pivot with a swimmer after adding some Dynamic friction, but that makes movement very difficult in general.

I have already thought of a way this could work.

I'm trying to replicate the mechanism with which sailboats can travel in different directions no matter the direction of the wind, even though this is its only propulsion.

As far as I'm getting I don't think is possible.

There it must be a complicated setup of stereocytes pointing in different directions, it must be omnidirectional.

It may work with only 2.

I'm thinking that myocytes may make it easier, but I'm no expert in "sea vehicles" to be able to figure it out.

I'm gonna point it out anyway in case this is of any help to you.

Here's genome that only use myocyte to move. No gravity there.

See, you people keep saying that Virocytes are complicated, but I need a crash course on how to do this stuff with Neurocytes.

Those are cool. I see, removing the Buoyocytes and moving with the Myocyte. The bipeds and millipede type organisms use bending and lift in the same sort of way. They all require Friction, which is going to limit the mobility of anything trying to pivot with a Myocyte.

Technically, I guess a smart crawler is doing some pivoting.

Here's a basic intro to Neurocytes. You may want additional info for more "advanced" uses of them though. You can ask questions in that thread.

Petter once said something like, according to his initial calculations, he thought a crawler would work without having Friction. He suggested that it still might be possible, but I have no idea how he thought it might work. I've been meaning to ask him about that. Maybe I'll see if I can find that the thread where he said that.

That'd be interesting to learn about. I haven't seen any hint on that in a substrate yet.

Correction: His idea was a crawler without Lift.

The substrate I posted before, they don't really need signals in they muscle lift. I set it at -1.00 and they are doing just fine.

That's interesting! :D That could be incredibly useful for a smart plant sort of organism. Just at first glance, I'm not entirely sure how it produces that behavior. You get the same thing with +1 Lift.

It still uses Lift though. With no Lift there is no movement.
