That would make it impossible. The cell limit is hit and we have no source of nutrients to wait out old age, when most of the time the photocytes split instead anyways

perhaps, although one of my smart swimmers survived quite a while and its not that great so I imagine if optimized could do better.

Without splitting it is impossible to survive, eventually they die from old age
