User-created Challenge: The Ring

Post by Alast » Wed Nov 18, 2015 10:06 pm

This challenge shouldn't be too hard. But it goes in quite a different way than any of the other challenges yet and will hopefully inspire to new challenge approaches. So I hope it's still fun ;)

Substrate: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cd4p62emqsder ... trate?dl=0

Objective (Easy): Kill the ring in the center of the substrate and leave no cells

Number of Inserted Cells allowed: 1

Cell types that can by used: Phagocytes

Max cell count: 19

So here we have the innovation. There is a max cell count. The number is chosen so that a breach of this restriction can be seen by the slightest change of the first digit in the cell counter.

Good premise as well. :) You could create a substrate and set the max number of cells at the max allowed for the challenge.

Unfortunately, setting a hard limit that low provokes app crashes. I've already reported that to Petter. That's why I had to set the hard limit higher and post a soft limit here for the challenve to work reliably.

That's a problem. Maybe there are scaling factors. Did you try a small dish?

I can seem to reproduce this bug in the latest version but i remember fixing something similar so it might be fixed already :P. I tried this challenge in my new version but can't seem to solve it, even with hints. I'm afraid I messed something up with the split ratios in this version. Does the food appear on the inside or outside of the circle for you guys?

On the inside. Where are you seeing it?

Btw, I think that we have lots of User created challenges, so they should be moved to their own category, like Showcase of our Creations, Suggestions and Bug Reports, and the other 2. ;)
