Difficulty: Superhuman AI

Progress: Unlocks gene Gamete and further challenges

Description:
You've run out of the ordinary nutrients for your cells. In desperation to feed them you saved a piece of bacon from lunch but now realize your phagocytes can not feed on fat.
Luckily, the researchers in the molecular biology lab have already been working on a similar scenario and were able to develop Secrocytes that produce Lipase, an enzyme that can break down fat into fatty acids that the phagocytes can eat


Win Conditions: 150 or more user cells with 1 inserted

I need some help with this. Ive built a genome that should theoretically work but doesnt.

M1-M2-M3 Lipocyte makes adhesin
M2-M4-M5 Lipocyte, makes adhesin
M3-M6-M7Lipocyte, makes adhesin
M4Flagellocyte
M5Secrocyte
M6Keratinocyte
M7-M7M1Phagocyte doesnt make adhesin.

In the end it looks like
4-5-6-7, but it dies fairly quickly.

The Secrocyte should be in front of the Phagocyte, because it needs to remove the coating from the nutrients before the Phagocyte can absorb them.

To live here, an organism must be able to remove the food coating with a lipase-emitting secrocyte, before eating the food with a phagocyte. However, the lipase secrocyte will injure other cells in your organism when it touches them.

When it happens, you will see the cell turning a sickly green color in the microscope. If you long-tap the challenge to go into experimental mode, you can use the "Cell diagnostics" tool to measure the percentage of injury.

Overcoming this potential self-injury is one of the keys to solving the challenge. You can minimize such injury in a few ways, or a combination:

- Use longer adhesin connection with the secrocyte, to prevent it touching other cells.
- Have the flagello pull the secrocyte/phagocyte from the front, instead of pushing other cells into the secrocyte.
- Include a keratinocyte between the secrocyte and other cells, to protect them from its damaging enzymes.

Another thing to keep in mind: cell injury is reduced by half when splitting, so when injured cells split, they can effectively heal themselves. If you use the most likely injured cell to spawn new eggs, then the injury is less of a problem than it would be for a cell that never splits.

You can make the secrocyte larger by giving it a higher nutrient priority. This allows it to digest a wider area of food as it passes over, ensuring the best chance of ready-to-eat nutrients for the phagocyte.

The flagellocyte swim speed is an important consideration as well. Swim too fast, and the food coating will not be removed as efficiently. Use a relatively low swim speed, around 0.15 - 0.20 (especially if your organism has few cells).

When you say you "can't figure it out", do you mean you have designed an organism, but it can't beat the challenge? Or you don't know how to design an organism?

Three cells are essential here: Flagellocyte, Phagocyte, Secrocyte (emitting lipase).

See if you can build a swimmer using those three cell types. Then see if you can make it capable of reproducing. Finally, optimize and/or evolve it enough to reach the challenge objectives.

It seems I cannot get my cells to create new swimmers. Is there a specific method to do this in this challenge?

For the reproduction not really. You need to make sure your swimmer has enough time to uncoat the food and then absorb it to gain the energy needed.
