Colony 9-7-5

Post by JPrescott » Mon Jul 02, 2018 4:43 am

I couldn't think of a more creative name because the species is trimorphic.. or something like that.

First is the 'Queen'. It just sits there waiting for food. It also has its own storage for food. The Queen produces 'Dispersers'.

Dispersers scatter around the substrate and produce 'Feeders' and gametes. Two gametes make a Queen.

Feeders feed themselves, then feed themselves to a Queen. They are born to die :ugeek:

A minor issue I have is with the Feeders' signalling. It doesn't work like it used to or maybe I'm just doing it wrong.. or both.

Can anybody open the file? It's too big for my phone to process it.

Yep, you're right. There is something wrong with the Feeder's navigation system. Maybe just use Senseocytes and a Neurocyte to have a better steering system with the Feeder. Perhaps make it prioritize the one detecting the Queen than detecting food.

Or make a somewhat changing brain, that when it's done with searching food, it'll then starts to search for the Queen. That way, the Queen would be able to produce more Dispersers effectively.

I did the latter and hives pop up faster and more often, yet I'm bothered by the stray feeders just wandering aimlessly away from queens.

It works fine for me. The Queen's population did rise a bit than usual. It looks pretty when all the Queens are pretty healthy.
