velocity smell question
velocity smell question
I don't understand how does the velocity smell works, could someone explain it to me? I read somethings about it but just got more confused. Could someone give me some examples?
If you love it hard enough, eventually you'll be the best at it

Re: velocity smell question
With a Senseocyte ot simply detects the speed of the cell moving across the substrate and produces signal substance accordingly.
A Stereocyte can detect motion based on its orientation in the organism. Forward and backward motion or left and right motion. Or diagonal motion of you have a good use case for that

Perfection hasnt reached me yet, but its trying hard!
Re: velocity smell question
But it detects it's own velocity right? Not the velocity of nearby cells.

Re: velocity smell question
And btw, does the stereotyte detect velocity along the cell in the same for it detects food (horizontally - side to side)? or it dectect or does it detect the velocity along vertical axis (back to front)?

Re: velocity smell question
Yes, it's the sensing cells own velocity. The Stereocyte senses along the orientation of its antennas like food smell or cell color sense, correct.
