Greetings! Me again with some more concepts.
I was always wondering if there would be a better way
of detecting cells for long-range.
Unfortunatelly, the available sensory cells, Senseocyte and Stereocyte
has quite of a limited range of detection.
I tried many different way to approach this long-range detection,
but ended up with a higly ineffecient organism
with extended range of like 3 cells.
So I came up with the idea, how about a sensory cell specialized for light-vision.
^Ocellocyte concept art
This is Ocellocyte.
It is a unidirectional sensoring cell all about colors!
It'll be able to detect all the colors on any range if the environment has light.
Having the good old R,G,B slider and color threshold
with output slider and output channel button,
It will have one additional programmable slider. The 'FOV(field of view)' slider.
The field of view can be altered from 180 degrees to 0.
FOV value will be programmable which means you can make the value up and down
via signal substances and other currently-usable values.

^This is the comparison between two Ocellocyte with different fov. (Left=wider,Right,narrow-er)
However, the output strength of Ocellocyte not only depands on the mathcing color, but the intensity of the light too.
With no light in the substrate, it will have no output.
When it's in the environment where it is really bright,
it'll give a higher output value compare to the same Ocellocyte in darker environment.
This is the basic concept of the Ocellocyte!
Thank you for reading all of this.
I hope you've enjoyed what I thought and have a good day.
Just to mention, check out Scorch's fluorocyte! I thought it would work well with Ocellocyte concept..

Ocellocyte concept
Re: Ocellocyte concept
Might seem like a troublesome idea at first, but linear detection would open up a lot of possibilities to make up for the strong flaws of stereocytes and senseocytes.
For example we can have them activate the main flagellocytes whenever it spots nutrients in front of it.
The light-based sensitivity might be troublesome considering all its variables, so that might potentially have to be left out. I mean, senseocytes already detect light without light, so
On the other hand with lower salinity and extremely low light requirement and light present, it could still function while photocytes would die of hunger in specific minimal light substrates

Re: Ocellocyte concept
I guess that is a good point.
Light based sensitivity might be quite hard to implement..

Ocellocytes will help Photocytes a lot since they're only available when the light is on. Maybe there can be more kinds of creature within Photocytes. (`> ᴗ<)
(The picture of the Ocellocytes is cool.)

It will also help a lot in the development of drones because a "Mothership" Will be able to control easier the drones (nearby-wireless).
It also Will help me to develope a substrate destroyer cannon that can point at cells at high range.

I like Kirby, ill eat them all

Maybe should add and extra slider for light intensity too..
Great that you liked the art :>
Yuss! the great mothership will rise to blast the ray of cold death through out the substrate!Kirby7 wrote:It will also help a lot in the development of drones because a "Mothership" Will be able to control easier the drones (nearby-wireless).

Remind me of light sensor of robot, when I'm in robotic club. Good Idea anyways, an eye cell
