A good Objective for this challenge may be to get the predator to live for a certain amount of time, rather than reducing the cell count to a certain number. Instead of optimizing the killing abilities predator, which is more likely to result in predator extinction after a short period, the time Objective would be a bit more like developing a predator that has a decent equilibrium. That might ease the difficulties of have a prey that is suitable for different sorts of crawling predators (faster / slower, number of cells, etc.). Just a thought...

I just ran the substrate with my predator and your smart crawler. The predator successfully cleaned the plate!

I've been experimenting with something that makes things easier for smart predators with smart prey. It's sort of like cheating... or, it's like the smart predator is really freakin' smart.

Bait! Drop off a Secrocyte-Keratinocyte and hang around for food.

Yeah, I was playing with that too. Actually didn't make it smart though but replaced the Predators Stereocyte with the Secrocyte and just made it swim very slow. Of course, it didn't have the color that makes the Prey flee. So pretty much cheating, too. But was fun to watch.

Oh, your crawler prey are smart prey? I assumed the prey -- at least for the first go around -- was just going to have a food signal, but it has a flee signal as well?

You can also attach the Secrocyte to your predator, making it the predator color. Talk about signal interference!

Are you still working on a predatory-prey challenge for crawlers? How's your predator doing?

Had to put that on hold. Am currently on site with a client and last week we had my parents in law visiting. I might get back to it eventually, but currently things are just too busy/stressful. So if you have something, go ahead.
